“There are many whose hearts are aching under a load of care because they seek to reach the world's standard. They have chosen its service, accepted its perplexities, adopted its customs. Thus their character is marred, and their life made a weariness. In order to gratify ambition and worldly desires, they wound the conscience, and bring upon themselves an additional burden of remorse. The continual worry is wearing out the life forces. Our Lord desires them to lay aside this yoke of bondage. He invites them to accept His yoke; He says, "My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." He bids them seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and His promise is that all things needful to them for this life shall be added. Worry is blind, and cannot discern the future; but Jesus sees the end from the beginning. In every difficulty He has His way prepared to bring relief. Our heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing. Those who accept the one principle of making the service and honor of God supreme will find perplexities vanish, and a plain path before their feet.”(DA, 330)
“세상의 표준에 도달하기 위하여 애씀으로써 근심의 짐에 눌려 상심하는 자들이 많이 있다. 그들은 세상을 섬기기로 택하였고 세상의 괴로움을 받아들였으며 그 관습을 채택하였다. 이리하여 그들의 품성은 훼손을 당하고 생애는 곤고하게 된다. 그들은 야망을 만족시키고 세속적인 욕망을 만족시키기 위하여 양심을 상하게 하여 가책의 짐을 얹어 짊어진다. 끊임없는 근심은 생명력을 약화시킨다. 우리 주께서는 그들이 이 속박의 멍에를 벗기를 원하신다. 예수께서는 당신의 멍에를 받으라고 그들을 초청하신다. “내 멍에는 쉽고 내 짐은 가벼움이라”고 그는 말씀하신다. 예수께서는 저들에게 먼저 하나님의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라고 명령하신다. 그리하면 이 세상에서 그들에게 필요한 모든 것을 더하시겠다고 허락하셨다. 근심은 눈멀게 하며 장래를 식별할 수 없게 만든다. 그러나 예수께서는 처음부터 마지막까지 보신다. 예수께서는 모든 곤난마다 위안을 주시는 당신의 길을 예비하셨다. 우리 하늘 아버지께서는 우리를 위하여 우리가 알지 못하는 허다한 길들을 준비하셨다. 하나님의 사업과 명예를 으뜸으로 삼는 원칙을 받아들이는 자들은 곤난이 사라진 것과 저희 발 앞에 평탄한 길이 펼쳐진 것을 발견하게 될 것이다.”(소망, 330)
